The three of us

Introduction

"We Three" is a memoir of family life written by Qian Zhongshu's wife Yang Jiang. Qian Zhongshu passed away in 1998, and his and Yang Jiang's only daughter Qian Yuan had passed away before them (in 1997). Four years after her life partner left, Yang Jiang, at the age of 92, carefully recorded the ups and downs of their special family for 63 years, and compiled the memoir "We Three".

This book is divided into two parts. In the first part, the author, with his usual wisdom and unique writing style, uses the form of dreams to tell the emotional experience of the family of three who depended on each other for survival in the last few years. In the second part, the author records the little-known ups and downs of this family in 63 years, from 1935 when the couple went to study in the UK and had a daughter in Oxford, to 1998 when the husband passed away, in plain and touching words.
